Islington Law Centre client interview with Open Democracy

By | News | No Comments

We are very pleased to have been able to work with Open Democracy to highlight the difficulties many people face in getting legal  advice as a result of the cuts to the Legal Aid system in 2013.  The Law Centre acts for a range of local people, including those who have been caught up with the issues affecting the Windrush Generation.  Eleanor spoke to the Open Democracy team about her case, and how the Law Centre had been able to help her to ensure that she was able to obtain justice.

You can see the interview in the link below, and also read more about the way in which the cuts to Legal Aid have affected people.  There are also suggested actions you can take to help highlight how important legal aid is to people.

Eleanor sums this up when she says “Legal Aid is an invaluable asset to anyone who is not privileged”  – no-one knows when they might face a legal issue,  and we want to ensure that there are enough legal aid lawyers to help people when they do.”
